We compared building kit costs for log homes from a number of suppliers in the Toronto, Muskoka and Ottawa areas, as well as those in magazines. Considering the quality of materials, OLH was the most affordable. For our needs with a growing family we feel we made the right choices of model and architectural adjustments.

Our experience with OLH was and still is a pleasure. We ran into some serious difficulties and OLH actually returned our deposit and were prepared to void our contract if we could not resolve this problem. That in itself gave me the assurance that I was dealing with a reputable company. Fortunately it all worked out and we went ahead with the project. All the staff at OLH is extremely helpful and will assist you along the way. We chose OLH after looking at other companies and their products. OLH had more of what we are looking for as well as the option of changing their existing floor plans and modifying them to our specific needs.

They do have a contractor that works with them often. His name is Robert St-Jacques. I would recommend him to as he seems to be honest and fair men. When we ran into our difficulty he too returned our deposit.

Melanie and I wanted to sincerely thank you your advice and assistance throughout this project.

We started with lots of doubts, because we weren't sure whether it made more sense to sell our property on Lac Sinclair and buy another existing cottage, or go with a new cottage on the same lot. However, every visit to your showroom tipped us more towards a new place, and now in hindsight, it was absolutely the right decision.

I'm sure our project was fairly small in comparison to your other sales, but I was consistently impressed by your willingness to make time for us; to answer an endless series of questions; to be responsive to our requirements. The work you did on modifying the existing Pinewood plan to incorporate some of the custom features proved how conscientious you are and underlined your attention to detail. I also appreciated that there were no surprises: you where honest in explaining what was and what was not included in the quote and it didn't escalate, despite that fact that almost a year elapsed from our first visit to contract singing.

I cannot tell you what a pleasure it is to go up to a new place with warm floors, no drafts, running water even in the winter and electrical outlooks that don’t fail when more than two appliances are running! But even better, when Melanie and I sit together admiring the view, we spend as much time inside looking at the log walls and pine ceiling as we do the lake outside. Our new home is absolutely gorgeous and the more time we spend there the more we are learning to appreciate the character of a log home. It is almost a living organism: we hear the logs cracking as they dry out; observe the colour of the wood deepening in the sunlight; and enjoy the unique sound of living under a metal roof its unlike any other place we've ever experienced.

In addition, I cannot tell you how grateful we are, that you put us in touch with Robert St-Jacques as our builder and general contractor. I have written to thank him personally, because he really all the myriad details of the construction together. I realize now that he had an idea of how the cottage would look even before the construction started, and all the extra touches and landscaping were part of a vision. The result was that our new cottage looks ten times better than we could of possibly imagined.

So in conclusion, thank you for helping to turn our dream into a reality. It has been a real pleasure working with you and we would be happy to serve as a reference, because we have only good things to say about OLH.
